Estate planning does not have to be overwhelming. Whether you are making your first will or coordinating a full plan across multiple documents, Morgan Legal Group is here to walk you through every step — clearly and without unnecessary complexity.

What Your First Consultation Covers

A complete New York estate plan typically includes four coordinated documents. Here is what to expect us to discuss:

Document NY Law What It Does
Will EPTL §3-2.1 Names your beneficiaries; requires two witnesses
Revocable or Irrevocable Trust EPTL Article 7 Avoids probate; irrevocable trusts can protect assets and address Medicaid’s 5-year look-back
Durable Power of Attorney GOL §5-1513 Covers financial decisions; durable by default under the 2021 statutory form
Health Care Proxy NY Public Health Law Art. 29-C Names an agent for medical decisions — separate from your financial POA

If your estate may approach the 2026 New York exclusion of $7,350,000, we will also cover the cliff threshold at $7,717,500 — where an estate above that amount loses the entire exemption and is taxed from dollar one at rates of 3–16%.
